How to replace buttons, keycaps, and key switches

In this article, we will explain how to replace the buttons, keycaps, and key switches on the MINI BOX leverless controller.

Button structure and part names

  

How to replace the button (*No tools required)

1. Remove the top plate

  

Since it is magnetic, the top plate can be removed by sliding it upwards.

2. Remove the Faston terminal

Remove both Faston terminals of the button you want to replace.

3. Unbutton

  

Press the claws on both sides of the button and push up to remove the button from the top plate.

4. Add a new button

Insert the new button into the top plate while pressing both sides.

5. Insert the Faston terminal

Insert the Faston terminals into both and you're done. (*Faston terminals can be used on either the left or right side.)

 

How to replace keycaps (No tools required)

1. Remove the keycap from the button

  

Insert your fingernail or flathead screwdriver from above and remove the keycap upwards.

2. Install the O-ring (silence ring)

Remove the O-ring (silence ring) from the keycap and attach it to the new keycap.

3. Put on a new keycap

Align the keycap with a cross and put it on to complete.

  

How to replace the key switch (*We recommend using radio pliers)

1. Remove the keycap

  

Insert your fingernail or flathead screwdriver from above and remove the keycap upwards.

2. Remove the key switch

  

Insert a flathead screwdriver or needle-nose pliers into the gap on the side of the bottom of the button and remove the key switch.

3. Bend the terminals of the new keyswitch

Change the angle of the terminal of the replacement key switch using needle-nose pliers, etc.

4. Insert the key switch

Insert the key switch with the bent terminal so that it is grounded to the terminal on the button side.

5. Put on the keycap

Align the keycap with a cross and put it on.
